Hi there! It's Stephanie :)
What if? Why not? Why not ME?
your weekly breath of fresh air
Welcome to the journey of growth and connection! š±
This month, our focus is on community, and each week, Iāll be sharing valuable insights through
the ONA method to help cultivate the io leader within you.
The ONA methodāOrganize, Nourish, Authenticityāwill guide us as we explore how to be your best self.
An io leader leads authentically and inspires profoundly, aligning their faith with the practical realities of the world.
Bible verse of the weekā¦
āEach of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of Godās grace in its various forms.ā 1 Peter 4:10
My intimate journalā¦
What if South Korea wasnāt the country we know today? What if it had never gained independence from Japan?
What happens if the younger generation loses hope? Why not change the system? Why not I be a part of that change?
I know what youāre thinking: "Is she dreaming too big? Thatās not achievable. Good luck." But let me tell you a story about Yu Gwan Sun. This Thursday, South Korea celebrated Gwangbokjeol (National Liberation Day), and as I read about its history, I came across the story of Yu Gwan Sun. At just 16 years old, she became a leader in the independence movement.
According to an article from The New York Times, āShe was influenced by her father, who taught her about Christianity and instilled traditional Confucian values of nationalism and civic awareness. Nine members of the Yu family ā spanning three generations ā were involved in the independence movement.ā Her story moved me deeply. I couldnāt stop thinking about how hard it must have been for her, as a young girl, to be involved in such a noble cause. She sacrificed her entire life for what she believed in, envisioning a future for South Korea. But what if she hadnāt used her gifts and instead lived a ānormal lifeā? Then, nothing would have changed.
I believe each of us is gifted with talents and passions worth fighting for in service to our community. This is how society advances and history continues.
As Spencer J. Cox wisely said, āIf we really want to change the world, we have to start with changing our hearts.ā By nourishing our inner-self and faith, we can collectively shape a brighter future for ourselves and the generations to come.
This week, we will delve into the second step of the ONA method: Nourish Spirit
the ONA method
NOURISH SPIRIT
How Impactful Leaders Use Three Brains by Jill Osur
TRANSCRIPT: āRemember our heart is meant to take the lead on emotional processing on values, on our connections with others. It's a source of passion and compassion. Emotions show up in negotiations with how teams work together, with the culture of a company and so many other aspects of businessā¦....but when they tapped into their hearts, they were able to balance the needs of others with their own. Creating a win-win. Look if the world and the state of our world has taught us anything, it's that we must reimagine more comprehensive leadership in light of these three brains designed for wisdom informed decision making. We have to pause and allow our heart and our gut brains to weigh in with as much influence as our head and intellect.ā
My challenge to you this weekā¦
ā¦is to consider what truly ignites your spirit. Reflect on a problem you see: What if (problem)? Why not (solution)? WHY NOT ME?
Think about how you can contribute to your community using your unique gifts. Remember, it doesnāt have to be a grand vision; meaningful change often comes from small actions taken consistently every day.
ONA Book Clubā¦
I AND THOU by Martin Buber.
āThis initial and long-continuing relational character of every essential phenomenon makes it also easier to understand a certain spiritual element of primitive life that is much discussed and observed, but not yet properly grasped, in present-day study. I mean that mysterious power the idea of which has been traced, through many variations, in the form of the beliefs or in the knowledge (both being still one) of many nature peoples.ā
I would love to read your pov and hear how these ideas resonate with you.
Let's learn and grow together!
Stay tuned every week for insights that empower you to become an io leader.
Looking forward to our journey together!
Best,
Stephanie.
